Artist-first
We designed every inch of The Pyrle with musicians in mind. Artists aren’t just “the talent”—they’re the reason we exist. We go out of our way to create a space where performers can take risks, build their careers, and make genuine connections with an audience that’s here to listen.
Every fan belongs
You don’t have to be an insider to feel welcome here. Whether it’s your first show or your fiftieth, The Pyrle is for fanatics, newcomers, and anyone searching for “that place” they can finally call their own. Our unique layout lets everyone experience the show their way.
Unrepeatable moments
No two nights at The Pyrle are ever the same. We handpick breakthrough acts, throw legendary shows, and pack every event with the soul and atmosphere to make Greensboro—and the Southeast—proud.
Community-powered
Our roots run deep: in our city, our staff, our partners, and everyone who believes in music’s power to unite. The Pyrle hosts more than concerts—we host workshops, special events, and creative collaborations that keep the local scene vibrant.

HISTORY OF
THE THEATER
Before The Pyrle became Greensboro’s home for live music, these halls were filled with the voices and stories of The Triad Stage—a beloved regional theater that stood at the heart of this city’s creative life for over two decades. The Triad Stage was more than just a playhouse; it was a community gathering space, a launching pad for new voices, and a landmark where countless audience members found themselves swept up in the magic of live performance.
When the curtains fell on The Triad Stage, it left a lasting legacy of artistry and connection. We’re honored to carry that spirit forward. The Pyrle now breathes new life into these historic walls, inviting music lovers and artists to create the next chapter together—one filled with discovery, belonging, and the kind of energy that lives on long after the last note is played.
Why is it called ‘The Pyrle’?
The Pyrle theatre at the original Triad Stage (pronounced “pearl”) was named after Pyrle Gibson in honor of her passionate support of the local Greensboro arts scene.
Gibson was known as an optimist —always upbeat and clever. According to her grandson, Randall Kaplan, Pyrle “always saw the best in people and in life. She brought joy to all who knew her. She would be blown away to know that the venue has her name.”
Ultimately, we thought ‘The Pyrle’ was the perfect way to carry forward the long legacy of arts culture in Greensboro—and the double meaning of “pearl” felt appropriate to the one-of-a-kind space we were bringing to our city.
